What is iSCSI?
iSCSI stands for Internet SCSI (Small Computer System Interface). iSCSI is an Internet Protocol based storage networking standard for linking data storage facilities, developed by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). It transmits and receives data over standard IP networks but uses SCSI command to do so. This makes for a very reliable environment in which to move data and increases the capabilities and performance of storage data transmission. iSCSI can be used to transmit data over local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), or the Internet and can enable location-independent data storage and retrieval.
W
hat this means for Security?
Today’s video surveillance networks are being pushed to the limit. Video applications have evolved to incorporating video analytics, motion detection, long term archiving and high sustained frame recording rates, which require high levels of computing power and large arrays of disks to meet demanding storage requirements.
ISCSI storage is a great way to deliver very large pools of storage for video recording systems. Used as either Direct Attached Storage (DAS) or as a part of a Storage Area Network, systems can access storage of virtually unlimited size. When more space is required adding more storage to a system is fast and easy.
Why use SS&W iSCSI solutions?
Security Server and Workstation iSCSI solutions utilize the very latest technologies from Intel
® and Microsoft
® to create Windows based iSCSI storage solutions that easy to use, easy to understand and familiar to Windows users. Supporting up to 24TB per unit, Intel based systems utilize
Intel® IOAT Technologies to create incredibly fast iSCSI systems. And with the power on the
